Yankees Add LHP Garcia in Trade

July 30, 2017

In today's first trade, the New York Yankees acquired lefty starting pitcher Jaime Garcia from the Minnesota Twins. The Twins got two minor league pitchers, Dietrich Enns and Zack Littell, in the trade.

Jaime Garcia started his professional baseball career in 2006 in the St. Louis Cardinals' minor league system. After joining the Cardinals in 2008 for 10 games, he had Tommy John surgery after the season ended. He returned to the Cardinals in 2010, and he finished the season with a 2.70 ERA and a 13-8 record. He continued as part of the Cardinals' starting rotation through 2016.

Garcia was traded to the Atlanta Braves in December, 2016. After 18 games with the Braves in 2017, he was traded to the Twins on July 24th. He comes to the Yankees with a 4.29 ERA and 5 wins and 7 losses this season.
