Nunez Traded to Red Sox

July 26, 2017

Infielder Eduardo Nunez has been traded by the San Francisco Giants to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for two minor league right-hand pitchers. The Giants will get 17-year-old Gregory Santos and 22-year-old Shaun Anderson.

Eduardo Nunez started his professional baseball career in 2005 with the New York Yankees. After almost six years in the minors, he joined the Yankees in 2010, and he stayed with them until he was traded to the Minnesota Twins in April, 2014. The Giants acquired him at last year's July trade deadline. In 76 games with the Giants this year, he had a .308 batting average with 93 hits and 31 RBIs.

The Red Sox signed Gregory Santos in August, 2015, and they signed Shaun Anderson almost a year later, in July, 2016. Both pitchers played in Boston's minor league system in 2016 and 2017, Anderson as just a starting pitcher and Santos as both a starter and a reliever.
