Headley is Traded and Wins Game for Yankees

Yesterday, Chase Headley was traded by the San Diego Padres to the New York Yankees. He arrived at Yankee Stadium after last night's game against the Texas Rangers had started and he barely had time to introduce himself to his new teammates before becoming a hero. In a fourteen inning game, Headley gave the Yankees a walk-off win with a single to drive in the winning run. [read more ...]


CC Sabathia Out for Season

CC Sabathia, ace pitcher for the New York Yankees, will have knee surgery that will end his 2014 season. The good news for Sabathia and the Yankees is that it won't be microfracture surgery which could potentially have ended his career. Soriano Returns to New York Yankees

Alfonso Soriano has agreed to a trade back to the New York Yankees, his original major league team. The Yankees and the Chicago Cubs agreed to a trade that will, hopefully, give New York some power in its lineup. Soriano, at age 37, might not have the speed he had in the past but so far this season, he has shown some power, with 24 doubles and 17 home runs. [read more ...]


Rivera Honored with ASG MVP

Mariano Rivera, in his ninth and last All Star Game, once again proved that he is the best closer of all time. But last night he pitched as setup man for Joe Nathan, throwing 16 pitches in the eighth inning. As usual, Rivera pitched perfectly, throwing 11 strikes and giving up no hits or walks. Pettitte Sets Another Record

Last night, Andy Pettitte set another record, this time becoming the Yankees all-time strikeout leader, passing Whitey Ford's record. Pettitte struck out Justin Morneau of the Twins for strikeout number 1,958 in a Yankees uniform. [read more ...]


Teixeira Out for Season

Yesterday the Yankees got the bad news that Mark Teixeira, their power-hitting, Gold Glove first baseman, will have season-ending surgery on his wrist sometime in the next week. Teixeira injured the wrist in the Spring during the World Baseball Classic preparations and he missed all of Spring training and the first two months of the season. He came back in June, played in 15 games and then found himself back on the DL. After a cortisone shot didn't bring him relief, doctors determined that he needed surgery to repair his wrist. The Yankees and Tex expect him to be 100% healthy by next Spring but his loss this season is a blow for the team. [read more ...]
