Victorino Traded for Rutledge

July 27, 2015

The Los Angeles Angels and the Boston Red Sox agreed to a trade that sends veteran outfielder Shane Victorino to the Angels in exchange for infielder Josh Rutledge. Victorino has played in just 32 games so far this season and Rutledge has spent the first part of the season in the minors.

Victorino, who was drafted in 1999 by the Dodgers, is known for his superb defense as well as his batting abilities. He has four Gold Gloves (2008-2010, 2013) for his defense as an outfielder. Offensively, he led the National League in triples in 2009 and 2011.

Rutledge played with the Rockies from 2012 through 2014. He was traded to the Angels in December, 2014. In the minor leagues this season, he's batted .286 with 92 hits in 81 games.
