Brandon Maurer, relief pitcher, started pitching as a child. At the age of 12, he pitched a perfect game in a Little League All-Star game.

Maurer was first drafted in 2008 by the Seattle Mariners. He pitched in their minor league system from 2008 through 2012.

Maurer pitched in 14 games as a starting pitcher and 8 games as a relief pitcher with the Mariners in 2013. He finished the season with 5 wins and 8 losses, 70 strikeouts to 27 walks, and a 6.30 ERA in 90.0 innings. The following season, he was primarily a relief pitcher, pitching in 7 games as a starter and 31 as a reliever. He finished the 2014 season with a 4.65 ERA in 69.2 innings.

The Mariners traded Maurer to the San Diego Padres on December 30, 2014. He was a relief pitcher only for the Padres in 2015, finishing the season with a 3.00 ERA in 53 games.

Maurer pitched in a career high 71 games in 2016. He had 13 saves, 72 strikeouts to 23 walks, and a 4.52 ERA in 69.2 innings.

The Padres traded Maurer to the Kansas City Royals on July 24, 2017. He finished the 2017 season with 3 wins and 6 losses, 22 saves, 59 strikeouts to 19 walks, and a 6.52 ERA in 42 games with the Padres and 26 games with the Royals.

Maurer pitched in 37 games with the Royals in 2018, and he had a 7.76 ERA in 31.1 innings. He also pitched in 19 games in the minors.

Maurer became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the Pittsburgh Pirates on January 30, 2019. He spent the 2019 season on the DL and in the minors.

Mauer became a free agent on November 4, 2019. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2019.
