Joely Rodriguez, relief pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles, first signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in March, 2009. He pitched in the Pirates' minor league system from 2009 through 2014. He was primarily a starting pitcher in his first five seasons and then both a reliever and a starter in 2014.
The Pirates traded Rodriguez to the Philadelphia Phillies on December 10, 2014. He pitched as both a starter and a reliever in the Phillies' minor league system in 2015.
In 2016, Rodriguez pitched just as a relief pitcher in both the majors and the minors. He had a 2.79 ERA in 9.2 innings in 12 games with the Phillies. He also pitched in 53 games in the minors.
