Joely Rodriguez, relief pitcher for the Boston Red Sox, first signed with the Pittsburgh Pirates in March, 2009. He pitched in the Pirates' minor league system from 2009 through 2014. He was primarily a starting pitcher in his first five seasons and then both a reliever and a starter in 2014.

The Pirates traded Rodriguez to the Philadelphia Phillies on December 10, 2014. He pitched as both a starter and a reliever in the Phillies' minor league system in 2015.

In 2016, Rodriguez pitched just as a relief pitcher in both the majors and the minors. He had a 2.79 ERA in 9.2 innings in 12 games with the Phillies. He also pitched in 53 games in the minors.

The Phillies traded Rodriguez to the Texas Rangers on June 13, 2017. His time in 2017 was split between the major and minor leagues. In 27.0 innings in 26 games with the Phillies, he had 1 win and 2 losses, 18 strikeouts to 15 walks, and a 6.33 ERA.

Rodriguez became a free agent on October 2, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles on November 28th. He was released on July 18, 2018. He played in the minors and in Japan in 2018.

Rodriguez played in Japan in 2019.

Rodriguez signed with the Rangers on December 16, 2019. He spent time on the IL in 2020. He finished the season with a 2.13 ERA in 12.2 innings in 12 games.

The Rangers traded Rodriguez to the New York Yankees on July 29, 2021. He spent time on the IL again in 2021. He finished the season with 2 wins and 3 losses, 47 strikeouts to 18 walks, and a 4.66 ERA in 31 games with the Rangers and 21 games with the Yankees. He didn't pitch in the postseason.

The Yankees traded Rodriguez to the New York Mets on April 3, 2022.

Rodriguez became a free agent on November 6, 2022. He signed with the Red Sox on November 23rd.
