Matt Strahm, pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 2012. He pitched as a relief pitcher in their minor league system in 2012. He had Tommy John surgery in 2013 and he missed the entire season. In 2014, he pitched in 1 game as a starting pitcher and 9 games as a relief pitcher in the minors. He split his time in 2015, pitching in 11 games as a starter and 18 games in relief, all in the minor leagues.

Strahm pitched in 21 games as a relief pitcher with the Royals in 2016. He had a 1.23 ERA, 2 wins and 2 losses, and 30 strikeouts to 11 walks in 22.0 innings. He also pitched 102.1 innings in 22 games in the minors.

The Royals traded Strahm to the San Diego Padres on July 24, 2017. He finished the 2017 season with 2 wins and 5 losses, 37 strikeouts to 22 walks, and a 5.45 ERA in 34.2 innings in 24 games with the Royals.

Strahm was again on the DL in 2019, with a left rib strain. He finished the season with 6 wins and 11 losses, 118 strikeouts to 22 walks, and a 4.71 ERA in 114.2 innings in 16 games as a starter and 30 games of relief.

Strahm pitched in 19 games in 2020. He finished the season with no wins and 1 loss and a 2.61 ERA in 20.2 innings. In the postseason, he pitched 2.1 innings in 4 games, and he gave up 7 hits and 3 runs.

Strahm spent most of the 2021 season on the IL. He pitched just 6.2 innings in 6 games with the Padres.

Strahm became a free agent on November 30, 2021. He signed with the Boston Red Sox on March 15, 2022.

Strahm became a free agent on November 6, 2022. He signed with the Phillies on December 9th.
