Gigi - Songs

Composer: Frederick Loewe

Lyricist: Alan Jay Lerner

SynopsisDVDCast

The songs for "Gigi" were written specifically for the movie. Although none of the songs became popular hits, Maurice Chevalier became identified with two of the songs, "Thank Heaven for Little Girls" and "I'm Glad I'm Not Young Anymore." The songs have easy-to-remember words and melodies and most people probably hum and sing the songs long after seeing the movie.

Leslie Caron's singing was dubbed by Betty Wand, who also dubbed the singing voice for other stars in movies from 1950 to 1961. Her other most notable dubbing was for Rita Moreno in West Side Story ("A Boy Like That"/"I Have a Love"). Prior to dubbing singing voices in movie musicals, Wand had been a singer with big bands of the 1940s, including Ray Conniff's band and Xavier Cugat's band.
