Flower Drum Song - Songs

Composer: Richard Rodgers

Lyricist: Oscar Hammerstein, II

SynopsisDVDCast

The "Flower Drum Song" was the last musical written by the team of Rodgers and Hammerstein and it is perhaps their most upbeat, joyous musical. Some of the songs, like "Don't Marry Me," incorporate humor, but there are two serious ballads in the show - "Love, Look Away" and "You Are Beautiful." The dream sequence that accompanies "Love, Look Away" is reminiscent of the dream sequence in Oklahoma ("Out of My Dreams").

B. J. Baker sang for Nancy Kwan in the film, but she was uncredited. The beautiful ballad, "Love, Look Away," was dubbed by the world-famous opera singer, Marilyn Horne.
