Adeiny Hechavarria, shortstop, started his major league career with the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2010, he signed a four-year, $10 million contract with the Blue Jays. He played in just 41 games with Toronto in 2012 before they traded him in the off-season to the Miami Marlins.
In 2013, his first season with the Marlins, Hechavarria batted .227 with 123 hits, 14 doubles, 42 RBIs, and 11 stolen bases in 148 games. As a defensive player at shortstop, he made 401 assists, 197 putouts, 89 double plays, and 15 errors and he had a .976 fielding percentage. He finished the 2014 season with 148 hits, 20 doubles, 10 triples, and a .276 batting average in 146 games.

Hechavarria became a free agent on October 31, 2019. He rejoined the Braves on a new contract on January 16, 2020. He played in 27 games in 2020, and he had 15 hits and a .254 batting average. Defensively, he played 12 games at second base, 8 games at third base, and 4 games at shortstop. He didn't play in the postseason.
Hechavarria elected free agency on October 28, 2020. He played in Japan in 2021.
Hechavarria returned to the Braves on a minor league contract on February 1, 2023. He was released on March 22nd. He signed with an independent league team on April 11th.
