Alex Presley, left fielder, was first drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2006. He played in the Pirates' minor league system from 2006 through most of 2011, joining the Pirates for 19 games in 2010 and 52 games in 2011.
In 2012, Presley batted .237 with 82 hits, 14 doubles, and 10 home runs in 104 games. After 29 games with the Pirates in 2013, they traded him to the Minnesota Twins for Justin Morneau. In a total of 57 games in 2013, he batted .276. The Astros claimed Presley off waivers in March, 2014. He finished the 2014 season with 62 hits and a .244 batting average in 89 games.
On November 18, 2014, Presley signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the Houston Astros. He spent most of the 2015 season in the minors, playing in just eight games with the Astros. He was designated for assignment on July 18th.
Presley signed a minor league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers on December 15, 2015. He was released on July 1, 2016. Eight days later, he signed with the Detroit Tigers. He finished the 2016 season with 24 hits and a .198 batting average in 47 games with the Brewers and 3 games with the Tigers.
Presley became a free agent on October 3, 2016. He signed a new, minor league contract with the Tigers on January 10, 2017. He played in 71 games with the Tigers in 2017 and he batted a career high .314. He had 77 hits, 10 doubles, and 49 strikeouts to 15 walks. Defensively, he played 13 games in left field, 19 games in center field, and 36 games in right field.
Presley elected free agency on November 6, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox on May 23, 2018. He was released on June 29th. He played only in the minors in 2018.
