Brett Lawrie, third baseman, was first drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2008. He played in the Brewers' minor league system for two seasons (2009-2010) before being traded to the Toronto Blue Jays in December, 2010. He was called up to the major leagues in 2011 and played in 43 games with the Blue Jays.
In 2012, his first full season in the major leagues, Lawrie batted .273 with 135 hits, 26 doubles, 11 home runs, and 13 stolen bases in 125 games. He played in 107 games in 2013 and he batted .254 with 102 hits and 18 doubles. He spent much of the 2014 season on the DL, playing in just 70 games with the Blue Jays. He finished the season with 64 hits and a .247 batting average.
On November 28, 2014, Lawrie was traded to the Oakland Athletics for Josh Donaldson. In 149 games with the Athletics in 2015, he batted .260 with 146 hits, 29 doubles, 16 home runs, and 60 RBIs. Defensively, he played 109 games at third base and he made 197 assists, 69 putouts, and 18 errors. He had a .937 fielding percentage.
Lawrie was traded to the Chicago White Sox on December 9, 2015. He missed part of the 2016 season due to injuries. He played in 94 games and finished the season with 87 hits, 22 doubles, 12 home runs, 36 RBIs, and a .248 batting average. Defensively, as a second baseman, he made 242 assists, 59 double plays, 157 putouts, and 9 errors in 92 games.
Lawrie was released by the White Sox on March 3, 2017. He hasn't played in the major leagues since 2016.
