Cole Gillespie, left fielder, was originally drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2006. He played in the Brewers' minor league system from 2006 through July, 2009, when he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks. He continued in the minor leagues through 2012, joining the Diamondbacks for 45 games in 2010 and 5 games in 2011.
In December, 2012, Gillespie signed a minor league contract with the San Francisco Giants. After just three games with the Giants in 2013, he was designated for assignment on July 9, 2013. Four days later, he was claimed off waivers by the Chicago Cubs. He lasted for only 25 games with the Cubs before being designated for assignment again on September, 4, 2013.
Gillespie signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners in December, 2013. He was designated for assignment by the Mariners on July 4, 2014. The following day, the Toronto Blue Jays claimed him off waivers. He finished the 2014 season with 18 hits and a .243 batting average in 34 games with the Mariners and 1 game with the Blue Jays.
Gillespie signed a minor league contract with the Miami Marlins on December 6, 2014. He finished the 2015 season with 42 hits and a .290 batting average in 67 games. Defensively, he played 10 games in left field, 31 games in center field, and 17 games in right field.
In 2016, Gillespie split his time between the minors (37 games) and the Marlins (41 games).
Gillespie became a free agent on October 6, 2016. He played in the Mexican League in 2017.
Gillespie hasn't played professional baseball since 2017.
