Daric Barton, retired first baseman, was drafted out of high school by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2003. After a year in the Cardinals' minor league system, he was traded to the Oakland Athletics. He stayed in the minor leagues through 2007, playing in just 18 games with the Athletics that year.

In 2008, Barton had his first full season in the major leagues, playing in 140 games with the Athletics. That season, he had 101 hits, 17 doubles, and a .226 batting average. The next year, Barton found himself back in the minor leagues. In 2009, he played in just 56 games with the Athletics.

Barton's best season came in 2010 when he had career highs in hits with 152, doubles with 33, and RBIs with 57. He batted .273 in 159 games. Barton also had a good 2010 season as a fielder. In 157 games at first base, he had 78 assists, 1,404 putouts, 121 double plays, 10 errors, and a .993 fielding percentage.

Barton was sent back to the minor leagues from 2011 through 2013. He played in 67 games and batted .212 with Oakland in 2011 and batted .204 in 46 games with them the following year. In 2013, he batted .269 in just 37 games with the Athletics. Even though Barton has not had much success in his time in the major leagues, the Athletics signed him to another one year contract in December, 2013. However, he played in just 30 games with the team in 2014 and he batted a dismal .158.

Barton signed a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays on December 16, 2014. He was released on July 2, 2015. He didn't play in the majors in 2015. He played in the Mexican League from 2016 to 2018.

Barton retired in 2019.
