Dayan Viciedo, Outfield

Dayan Viciedo started playing professional baseball at the age of 15 in Cuba. He defected to the United States in May, 2008, and seven months later, in December, 2008, he signed a four-year, $10 million contract with the Chicago White Sox. He played in the minor leagues from 2009 through most of 2011, joining the White Sox for 38 games in 2010 and 29 games in 2011.

In 2012, his first full season in the major leagues, Viciedo batted .255 with 129 hits, 18 doubles, 25 home runs, and 78 RBIs in 147 games. He finished the 2014 season with 121 hits, 22 doubles, 21 home runs, 58 RBIs, and a .231 batting average in 145 games.

Viciedo was designated for assignment by the White Sox on January 28, 2015. He signed a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays on March 1, 2015. He was released a month later on March 31st. On June 11th, he signed with the Oakland Athletics but that lasted only until July 30th, when he was again released. Two days later, he signed with the Chicago White Sox. He spent the 2015 season in the minor leagues.

Viciedo elected free agency on November 6, 2015. He has been playing in Japan since 2016.
