DJ LeMahieu, second baseman for the New York Yankees, was drafted by the Chicago Cubs in 2009. After just two years in the minor leagues, he was called up to the Cubs in 2011, playing in 37 games with them that season.

In December, 2011, LeMahieu was traded to the Colorado Rockies. He played in 81 games with the Rockies in 2012 and he batted .297. In 2013, he batted .280 with 113 hits, 21 doubles, and 18 stolen bases in 109 games. He finished the 2014 season with 132 hits, 15 doubles, and a .267 batting average.

LeMahieu won his first Gold Glove in 2014. In 144 games at second base, he had a .991 fielding percentage with 413 assists, 99 double plays, 257 putouts, and 6 errors.

He had a very strong first season in New York, winning his first Silver Slugger award for batting .327 with 197 hits, 33 doubles, 26 home runs, 102 RBIs, and 90 strikeouts to 46 walks in 145 games. Defensively, he played 40 games at first base, 75 games at second base, and 52 games at third base. In the postseason, he had 13 hits, including 3 doubles and 3 home runs, 7 RBIs, 6 strikeouts to 4 walks, and a .325 batting average in 40 at-bats in 9 games.

LeMahieu had another strong season in 2020, winning the MLB batting title with a batting average of .364. He also won his second Silver Slugger award. In 50 games in 2020, he had 71 hits, 10 doubles, 27 RBIs, and 21 strikeouts to 18 walks. Defensively, he played 11 games at first base, 37 games at second base, and 11 games at third base. In the postseason, he had 9 hits, 4 RBIs, and a .281 batting average in 32 at-bats in 7 games.

LeMahieu became a free agent on October 28, 2020. He signed again with the Yankees on January 27, 2021. He finished the 2021 season with 160 hits, 24 doubles, 57 RBIs, 94 strikeouts to 73 walks, and a .268 batting average in 150 games. Defensively, he played 55 games at first base, 83 games at second base, and 39 games at third base. He was on the IL during the postseason.
