Donovan Solano, second baseman for the Minnesota Twins, was first signed by the St. Louis Cardinals in January, 2005. After seven years in the Cardinals' minor league system, they traded him to the Miami Marlins in November, 2011.

Solano played in 93 games with the Marlins in 2012. He had 84 hits, 11 doubles, and a .295 batting average. In 2013, he had 90 hits, 13 doubles, 34 RBIs, and a .249 batting average in 102 games. He finished the 2014 season with 78 hits and a .252 batting average in 111 games.

Solano played in 55 games with the Marlins in 2015. During that time, he batted .189 with 17 hits. Defensively, he played 7 games at second base, 10 games at third base, and 10 games at shortstop.

Solano signed with the New York Yankees on December 24, 2015. He spent most of the 2016 season in the minors, playing in just 9 games with the Yankees. He spent the entire 2017 season in the minors.

Solano elected free agency on November 6, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on January 18, 2018. He spent the 2018 season on the DL and in the minors.

Solano had a strong 2020 season, and he won his first Silver Slugger award. He finished the season with 62 hits, 15 doubles, 3 home runs, 29 RBIs, 39 strikeouts to 10 walks, and a .326 batting average in 54 games. Defensively, he played 45 games at second base, 5 games at third base, and 2 games at shortstop.

Solano spent time on the IL in 2021. He finished the season with 86 hits, 17 doubles, 31 RBIs, 58 strikeouts to 28 walks, and a .280 batting average in 101 games. In the postseason, he had no hits in 8 at-bats in 5 games.

Solano became a free agent on November 3, 2021. He signed with the Cincinnati Reds on March 20, 2022.

Solano became a free agent on November 6, 2022. He signed with the Twins on February 23, 2023.

Personal Life

Solano's brother Jhonatan is in the Marlins' minor league system. In 2012 and 2013, he was a catcher with the Washington Nationals.
