Drew Hutchison, pitcher for the Philadelphia Phillies, was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2009. He pitched in the Blue Jays' minor league system from 2010 through 2013, finishing with an 18-13 record and a 2.80 ERA in 56 games.

Hutchison joined the Blue Jays in 2012 but his playing time was limited by injuries and Tommy John surgery. In 11 games in 2012, he pitched 58.2 innings and he had a 5-3 record with a 4.60 ERA.

In 2013, Hutchison pitched only in the minor leagues while rehabbing from his surgery. He finished the 2014 season with an 11-13 record, 184 strikeouts to 60 walks, and a 4.48 ERA in 184.2 innings in 32 games.

Hutchison pitched his second career complete game shutout on May 25, 2015. He shut out the Chicago White Sox by a score of 6-0. He finished the 2015 season with a 13-5 record, 129 strikeouts to 44 walks, and a 5.57 ERA in 150.1 innings in 30 games.

Hutchison was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates on August 1, 2016. He spent most of the 2016 season in the minors, pitching just 24.0 innings in 3 games with the Blue Jays and 6 games with the Pirates.

Hutchison spent the entire 2017 season in the minors.

Hutchison elected free agency on October 2, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies on February 15, 2018. He elected free agency on June 5, 2018, after being sent to the minors by the Phillies. He signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on June 16th, and he was released on July 31st. He signed with the Texas Rangers on August 5th. He finished the 2018 season with 2 wins and 2 losses, 31 strikeouts to 26 walks, and a 6.75 ERA in 42.2 innings in 11 games with the Phillies and 5 games with the Rangers.

Hutchison became a free agent again on October 4, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees on January 11, 2019, and he was released on June 17th. He signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins on June 21st. He was traded to the Los Angeles Angels on August 5, 2019. He spent the 2019 season in the minors.

Hutchison became a free agent on November 4, 2019. He played for the independent American Association league in 2020.

Hutchison signed a minor league contract with the Tigers on February 27, 2021. He pitched in just nine games with Detroit in 2021. He had a 2.11 ERA in 21.1 innings in 9 games.

Hutchison became a free agent on October 13, 2022. He returned to his first team, the Blue Jays, on a minor league contract on January 6, 2023. He was released on June 2, 2023. He signed a minor league contract with the Phillies on June 7th.
