Edwin Jackson, pitcher, was first drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2001 and he joined the team in 2003 for 4 games. In his three years with the Dodgers, he pitched in just 19 games with them, spending the rest of the time in the minor leagues.

Jackson was traded by the Dodgers to the Tampa Bay Rays in January, 2006. He started as a relief pitcher with the Rays, pitching 36.1 innings in 23 games in 2006. The following season, he was one of their starting pitchers, pitching 161.0 innings in 32 games. He finished the 2007 season with a 5-15 record and a 5.76 ERA.

Jackson had a career high 14 wins (to 11 losses) with a 4.42 ERA in 32 games in 2008. Three months after the season ended, the Rays traded him to the Detroit Tigers for Matt Joyce. In 2009, he had a career low 3.62 ERA with a 13-9 record in 33 games.

In December, 2009, Jackson was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks. On June 25, 2010, he pitched a no-hitter against his former team, the Rays. A month later, he was traded to the Chicago White Sox. He finished the 2010 season with a 10-12 record and 4.47 ERA in 21 games with the Diamondbacks and 11 games with the White Sox.

Jackson was traded to two teams on July 27, 2011. First, the White Sox traded him to the Toronto Blue Jays and later that day, the Blue Jays traded him to the St. Louis Cardinals. He stayed with the Cardinals for just 13 games.

In February, 2012, Jackson signed a one-year contract with the Washington Nationals. He played in 31 games in 2012 and he finished the season with a 10-11 record and a 4.03 ERA.

Jackson signed with his eighth team in January, 2013, when he signed a four-year, $52 million contract with the Chicago Cubs. He pitched in 31 games in 2013 and he finished with an 8-18 record and a 4.98 ERA. He finished the 2014 season with a 6-15 record, 123 strikeouts to 63 walks, and a 6.33 ERA in 140.2 innings in 28 games.

After 23 games as a relief pitcher with the Cubs in 2015, Jackson was released by the team on July 27th. He signed with the Atlanta Braves on August 14th. He finished the season with a 4-3 record, 1 save, 40 strikeouts to 21 walks, and a 3.07 ERA in 55.2 innings in 23 games with the Cubs and 24 games with the Braves.

Jackson signed a one-year, $507,500 contract with the Miami Marlins on January 13, 2016. He was released by the team on June 2, 2016. He signed with the San Diego Padres on June 20, 2016. He finished the 2016 season with a 5.89 ERA, 5 wins to 7 losses, and 61 strikeouts to 41 walks in 84.0 innings in 8 games with the Marlins and 13 games with the Padres.

Jackson became a free agent on November 3, 2016. He signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles on April 5, 2017. He was designated for assignment on June 11th and two days later, he elected free agency. He signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals on June 15th. He finished the 2017 season with a 5.21 ERA, 5 wins and 6 losses, and 60 strikeouts to 29 walks in 3 games with the Orioles and 13 games with the Nationals. He didn't play in the postseason.

Jackson elected free agency on November 2, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the Oakland Athletics on June 6, 2018. He finished the 2018 season with 6 wins and 3 losses, 68 strikeouts to 37 walks, and a 3.33 ERA in 92.0 innings in 17 games. He also played in 13 games in the minors.

Jackson became a free agent on October 29, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the Oakland Athletics on April 11, 2019. He returned to the Blue Jays in a trade on May 11th. He was released on July 19th. He signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers on July 21st.

Jackson spent time on the DL in 2019 with lower back strain. He finished the season with 3 wins and 10 losses, 52 strikeouts to 32 walks, and a 9.58 ERA in 67.2 innings in 8 games with Toronto and 10 games with Detroit.

Jackson became a free agent on October 31, 2019. He signed a minor league contract with the Diamondbacks on February 3, 2020. He was released on May 22nd. He didn't play professional baseball in 2020.
