Eric Young, Jr., outfielder, comes from a baseball family. His father, Eric Young, who was also a left fielder, played in the major leagues for 15 seasons. Young, Jr. was first drafted by the Colorado Rockies and he played in their minor league system from 2004 through most of 2011. He played in just 30 games with the Rockies in 2009, 51 games in 2010, and 77 games in 2011.

In 2012, Young batted .316 with 55 hits and 14 stolen bases in 98 games with the Rockies. The following June, after 57 games, they traded him to the New York Mets. In 2013, he led the National League in stolen bases with 46. He played in a total of 148 games (57 with the Rockies, 91 with the Mets) and he batted .249 with 134 hits and 27 doubles. He finished the 2014 season with 64 hits, 30 stolen bases, and a .229 batting average in 100 games.

Young signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves on February 13, 2015. He returned to the Mets in a trade on August 22, 2015. He finished the 2015 season with 13 hits and a .153 batting average in 35 games with the Braves and 18 games with the Mets.

Young signed with the Milwaukee Brewers on January 5, 2016. He was traded to the New York Yankees on August 31, 2016. He spent most of the 2016 season in the minors, playing in just 6 games with the Yankees.

Young signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Angels on January 24, 2017. He spent most of the 2017 season in the minors, playing in just 47 games with the Angels.

Young elected free agency on November 3, 2017. He rejoined the Angels on a minor league contract on January 8, 2018. He spent most of the 2018 season in the minors, playing in just 41 games with the Angels.

Young became a free agent on October 29, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the Baltimore Orioles on February 11, 2019. He was released on March 22nd. Six days later, on March 28th, he signed a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners. After playing only in the minors, the Mariners released him on July 23, 2019. He signed with a Mexican League team on July 28th and spent the rest of the 2019 season with them.

Young didn't play professional baseball in 2020 and 2021.
