Eugenio Suarez, shortstop for the Seattle Mariners, was signed by the Detroit Tigers in October, 2008. He played in the Tigers' minor league system from 2009 through part of 2014. In 513 games in the minors, he had 538 hits, 121 doubles, 68 stolen bases, 226 RBIs, and a .278 batting average.

In 2014, his first season in the major leagues, Suarez had 59 hits, 67 strikeouts to 22 walks, and a .242 batting average in 85 games with the Tigers. As a shortstop, he made 189 assists, 49 double plays, 113 putouts, and 10 errors in 81 games. He had one at-bat in one game in the postseason with no hits.
