Jake Odorizzi, starting pitcher for the Texas Rangers, was first drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2008. After three years in the Brewers' minor league system, they traded him to the Kansas City Royals in December, 2010. He continued in the minor leagues, joining the Royals for just two games in 2012.
The Royals traded Odorizzi to the Tampa Bay Rays in December, 2012. He pitched primarily in the minor leagues in 2013, joining the Rays for just seven games. He finished his time in the minor leagues with a 3.47 ERA and a 43-27 record in 121 games.
In 2014, Odorizzi was in the Rays' starting rotation. He finished the season with an 11-13 record, 174 strikeouts to 59 walks, and a 4.13 ERA in 168.0 innings in 31 games.
Odorizzi pitched in 28 games with the Rays in 2015. He finished the season with a 9-9 record, 150 strikeouts to 46 walks, and a 3.35 ERA in 169.1 innings.
In 2016, Odorizzi pitched 187.2 innings in 33 games. He finished the season with a 3.69 ERA, 10 wins to 6 losses, and 166 strikeouts to 54 walks.

He finished the season with 6 wins and 7 losses, 91 strikeouts to 34 walks, and a 4.21 ERA in 104.2 innings in 24 games. In the postseason, he gave up 8 hits, 2 home runs, and 4 runs in 6.1 innings in 2 games.
The Astros traded Odorizzi to the Atlanta Braves on August 2, 2022.
