James Jones, center fielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, was both a pitcher and an outfielder in college. In 2009, the Seattle Mariners drafted him as an outfielder.

Jones joined the Mariners in 2014, playing in 108 games with them. He finished the season with 78 hits, 27 stolen bases, and a .250 batting average. Defensively, as a center fielder, he made 153 putouts with just one error for a .994 fielding percentage.

Jones spent most of the 2015 season in the minor leagues, joining the Mariners for just 28 games. He was traded to the Texas Rangers on November 16, 2015. He played only in the minors from 2016 through 2019. He didn't play professional baseball in 2020 and 2021.

Jones became a free agent on November 10, 2022. He signed a minor league contract with the Dodgers on December 10th.
