Jeff Baker was first drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2002. He played in the Rockies' minor league system from 2003 through most of 2006, joining the Rockies for 12 games in 2005 and 18 games in 2006.
Baker played in 85 games with the Rockies in 2007, finishing the season with 32 hits and a .222 batting average. The following season, he played in 104 games and he had 80 hits, 22 doubles, 12 home runs, 48 RBIs, and a .268 batting average.
In July, 2009, after 12 games, the Rockies traded Baker to the Chicago Cubs. He finished that season with 65 hits and a .288 batting average in 81 games. He had similar numbers with the Cubs in 2010 (.272 batting average in 79 games) and 2011 (.269 batting average in 81 games).
The Cubs traded Baker to the Detroit Tigers on August 5, 2012. He lasted less than a month with the Tigers. On August 31, 2012, they traded him to the Atlanta Braves. He finished the season with a .239 batting average.
In January, 2013, Baker signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers. He played in 74 games in 2013 and he finished with a .279 batting average.
Baker signed a two-year, $3.7 million contract with the Marlins, his sixth team, in February, 2014. He finished the 2014 season with 55 hits and a .264 batting average in 90 games.
After 41 games in 2015, the Marlins released Baker on July 31st. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2015.
