Jon Singleton, First Base

Jon Singleton, first baseman, was first drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2009. After two and a half seasons in the Phillies' minor league system, they traded him to the Houston Astros on July 29, 2011. He continued in the minor leagues through part of 2014. In 2014, he was suspended for 50 games for testing positive for marijuana use.

On June 2, 2014, Singleton signed a contract extension with the Astros. He played in 95 games with the Astros in 2014. He finished the season with 52 hits, 13 doubles, 13 home runs, 44 RBIs, 134 strikeouts to 50 walks, and a .168 batting average. Defensively, as a first baseman, he made 53 assists, 75 double plays, 776 putouts, and 11 errors in 91 games.

Singleton spent most of the 2015 season in the minor leagues, playing in just 19 games with the Astros. He spent the entire 2016 and 2017 seasons in the minors.

Singleton received a 100-game suspension for his third positive drug test in January, 2018. The Astros released him on May 21, 2018. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2017.
