Jordy Mercer, retired shortstop, was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2008. He played in the minor leagues for almost five years before being called up to the Pirates for 42 games in 2012.
In 2013, his first full season in the major leagues, Mercer batted .285 with 95 hits and 22 doubles in 103 games. He finished the 2014 season with 129 hits, 27 doubles, and a .255 batting average in 149 games.
Mercer spent time on the DL in 2015 with a leg injury. He finished the season with 96 hits, 21 doubles, 34 RBIs, and a .244 batting average in 116 games. Mercer elected free agency on October 13, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals on February 6, 2021. He spent time on the IL in 2021. He finished the season with 30 hits and a .254 batting average in 46 games.
Mercer became a free agent on November 3, 2021. He retired on April 5, 2022.
