Kevin Gausman, pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2010 but he opted instead for college. A year later, he was drafted by and signed with the Baltimore Orioles. In July 2012, he signed a $4.32 million contract with Baltimore.

Gausman pitched in the Orioles' minor league system for less than two years, joining the team for 20 games last year. In 33 games in the minors, he had a 4-10 record with a 3.41 ERA.

In 2013, Gausman pitched 47.2 innings as a starting pitcher and as a relief pitcher in 20 games with the Orioles. He finished the season with a 3-5 record and a 5.66 ERA.

Gausman finished the 2014 season with a 7-7 record, 88 strikeouts to 38 walks, and a 3.57 ERA in 113.1 innings in 20 games. In the postseason, he pitched 8.0 innings in three games and he gave up 4 hits and one run.

Gausman pitched in 25 games with the Orioles in 2015. He finished the season with a 4-7 record, 103 strikeouts to 29 walks, and a 4.25 ERA in 112.1 innings.

In the postseason, he pitched 2.0 innings in 1 game and he gave up 2 hits, including a home run, and 2 runs. He struck out 4 batters and walked 2.

The Cincinnati Reds claimed Gausman off waivers on August 5, 2019. He spent time on the DL in 2019 with shoulder tendinitis and a foot injury. He finished the season with 3 wins and 9 losses, 114 strikeouts to 32 walks, and a 5.72 ERA in 16 games as a starting pitcher with the Braves and 15 games as a relief pitcher with the Reds.

Gausman became a free agent on December 2, 2019. He signed with the San Francisco Giants on December 10th. He pitched in 12 games in 2020, and he finished the season with 3 wins and 3 losses, 79 strikeouts to 16 walks, and a 3.62 ERA in 59.2 innings.

Gausman led the National League in starting games pitched in 2021 with 33. He finished the season with 14 wins and 6 losses, 227 strikeouts to 50 walks, and a 2.81 ERA in 192.0 innings. In the postseason, he gave up 4 hits and 4 runs in 6.0 innings in 2 games.

Gausman became a free agent on November 3, 2021. He signed a five-year, $110 million contract with the Blue Jays on December 1st.
