Kyle Gibson, starting pitcher for the Baltimore Orioles, was first drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2006 but he opted instead to go to college. Three years later, he was drafted by the Minnesota Twins. He pitched in the Twins' minor league system in 2010 and 2011 before having Tommy John surgery in November, 2011. He continued pitching in the minor leagues through part of 2013, finishing with a 21-21 record, 337 strikeouts to 105 walks, and a 3.51 ERA in 74 games.

Gibson pitched in 10 games with the Twins in 2013, finishing with a 2-4 record and a 6.53 ERA. He finished the 2014 season with a 13-12 record, 136 strikeouts to 77 walks, and a 4.47 ERA in 179.1 innings in 31 games.

Gibson pitched in 32 games with the Twins in 2015. He finished the season with an 11-11 record, 145 strikeouts to 65 walks, and a 3.84 ERA in 194.2 innings.

In 2016, Gibson finished with a 5.07 ERA in 25 games. He had 6 wins to 11 losses and 104 strikeouts to 55 walks in 147.1 innings.

Gibson finished the 2017 season with 12 wins and 10 losses, 121 strikeouts to 60 walks, and a 5.07 ERA in 158.0 innings in 29 games. He didn't pitch in the Wild Card game.
