Lance Lynn, starting pitcher for the Chicago White Sox, was first drafted in 2005 by the Seattle Mariners but he opted for college instead. Three years later, he was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. He played in the Cardinals' minor league system through part of 2011, finishing his minor league career with a 3.69 ERA and a 32-18 win-loss record.

Lynn joined the Cardinals for the first time in 2011, pitching 34.2 innings in 18 games. The following season, he had a 3.78 ERA with an 18-7 record in 35 games. In 2013, he pitched 201.2 innings in 33 games and he had a 3.97 ERA and a 15-10 record.

Lynn finished the 2014 season with a 15-10 record, 181 strikeouts to 72 walks, and a career low ERA of 2.74 in 203.2 innings in 33 games. In the postseason, he pitched 11.2 innings in 2 games and he gave up 13 hits and 4 runs for a 3.09 ERA.

Lynn pitched in 31 games with the Cardinals in 2015. He finished the season with a 12-11 record, 167 strikeouts to 68 walks, and a 3.03 ERA in 175.1 innings. In the postseason, he pitched 1.0 innings and gave up one run.

Lynn had Tommy John surgery in November, 2015. He missed the entire 2016 season, recovering from the surgery.

Lynn became a free agent on October 29, 2018. He signed with the Texas Rangers on December 18th. He finished the 2019 season with 16 wins and 11 losses, 246 strikeouts to 59 walks, and a 3.67 ERA in 208.1 innings in 33 games.

Lynn pitched in 13 games in 2020. He finished the season with 6 wins and 3 losses, 89 strikeouts to 25 walks, and a 3.32 ERA in 84.0 innings.

The Rangers traded Lynn to the White Sox on December 8, 2020. He spent time on the IL in 2021 with right knee inflammation. He finished the season with 11 wins and 6 losses, 176 strikeouts to 45 walks, and a 2.69 ERA in 157.0 innings in 28 games. In the postseason, he gave up 6 hits and 5 runs in 3.2 innings in 1 game.
