Mark Trumbo, outfielder, was first drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in 2004. He played in the minor leagues from 2005 through 2010, finishing with a .275 batting average. In 2010, he played in just 8 games with the Angels.
In 2011, his first full season in the major leagues, Trumbo batted .254 with 137 hits, a career high 31 doubles, 29 home runs, and 87 RBIs in 149 games. He started his career as a first baseman and in 2011, he led the American League in putouts with 1,281. That season, he played first base in 149 games and he made 93 assists, 117 double plays, and 10 errors. He had a .993 fielding percentage.
Trumbo had career highs in hits (146) and batting average (.268) in 2012. That season, he played in left field in 66 games and in right field in 35 games. In 2013, Trumbo moved back to first base.
In 2013, Trumbo batted .234 with career highs in home runs with 34 and RBIs with 100. He had 145 hits and 30 doubles in 159 games. After the season ended, the Angels traded Trumbo to the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Trumbo spent half of the 2014 season on the DL. He finished the season with 77 hits, 15 doubles, 14 home runs, 61 RBIs, and a .235 batting average in 88 games.
On June 3, 2015, Trumbo was traded to the Seattle Mariners. He finished the 2015 season with 133 hits, 23 doubles, 22 home runs, 64 RBIs, and a .262 batting average in 46 games with the Diamondbacks and 96 games with the Mariners. Defensively, he played 76 games in right field, 13 games in left field, and 23 games at first base.
Trumbo was traded to the Orioles on December 2, 2015. He won his first Silver Slugger award in 2016 for batting .256 with career highs in hits (157), home runs (47), and RBIs (108). He also had 27 doubles. In one game in the postseason, his only hit was a home run. Defensively, as the Orioles' right fielder in 95 games in the regular season, he made 163 putouts and 5 errors.
Trumbo signed a three-year contract with the Orioles on January 20, 2017. He finished the 2017 season with 131 hits, 22 doubles, 23 home runs, 65 RBIs, 149 strikeouts to 42 walks, and a .234 batting average in 146 games. Defensively, he played 2 games at first base, 2 games at third base, and 31 games in right field.
Trumbo spent time on the DL in 2018 with right knee inflammation. In 90 games, he batted .261 with 86 hits, 17 home runs, 44 RBIs, and 87 strikeouts to 24 walks. He was the Orioles' DH in 65 games.
Trumbo spent most of the 2019 season on the DL, recovering from knee surgery. He played in just 12 games.
Trumbo became a free agent on October 31, 2019. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2019.
