Michael McKenry, retired catcher, was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2006. He played in the Rockies' minor league system from 2006 through 2010, joining the Rockies for six games in 2010.
The Rockies traded McKenry to the Boston Red Sox in March, 2011. After just a few months in the minor leagues, the Red Sox traded him to the Pittsburgh Pirates in June, 2011.
McKenry played in 58 games with the Pirates in 2011. The following year, he batted .233 with 56 hits, 14 doubles, and 12 home runs in 88 games. In 2013, he played in just 41 games with the Pirates.
The Pirates designated McKenry for assignment in December, 2013. A month later, he agreed to return to the Rockies on a minor league contract. He played in 57 games with the Rockies in 2014 and he had 53 hits and a .315 batting average.
McKenry played in 58 games with the Rockies in 2015. He batted .205 with 26 hits.
The Texas Rangers signed McKenry to a minor league contract on December 30, 2015. He was released by the Rangers on May 14, 2016. He signed with the St. Louis Cardinals on May 27, 2016. The Cardinals designated him for assignment on July 19, 2016, after playing in just 3 games with them.
McKenry signed a minor league contract with the Tampa Bay Rays on December 22, 2016. He spent the entire 2017 season in the minors.
McKenry became a free agent on November 6, 2017. He retired in February, 2018.
