Mike Carp, utility player, was first drafted by the New York Mets in 2004. He played in the Mets' minor league system from 2004 through 2008 before being traded to the Seattle Mariners in December, 2008. He then continued in the minor leagues, joining the Mariners for 21 games in 2009 and 14 games in 2010.
Carp played in 79 games with the Mariners in 2011. He had a decent first season, finishing with 80 hits, 17 doubles, 12 home runs, 46 RBIs, and a .276 batting average. The following season, he batted just .213 with 35 hits in 59 games.
Carp's contract was bought by the Boston Red Sox in February, 2013. He played in 86 games in 2013, finishing the season with 64 hits, 18 doubles, 43 RBIs, and a .296 batting average.
On August 2, 2014, Carp was claimed off waivers by the Texas Rangers. He finished the 2014 season with just 22 hits and a .175 batting average in 42 games with the Red Sox and 17 games with the Rangers.
Carp signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals on January 13, 2015. He was released in April, 2015, and signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 25th. He was released on May 7th. Almost a year later, on March 7, 2016, he signed with the Baltimore Orioles but he lasted less than a month with them, being released on April 1st.
