Nate Schierholtz, right fielder, was first drafted by the San Francisco Giants in 2003. He played in the minor leagues from 2003 through most of 2008, playing in just 39 games with the Giants in 2007 and in 19 games in 2008.
In 2009, his first full season in the major leagues, Schierholtz batted .267 with 76 hits and 19 doubles in 116 games. After 77 games with the Giants in 2012, they traded him to the Philadelphia Phillies.
Schierholtz signed a one-year, $2.25 million contract with the Chicago Cubs in December, 2012. He had his best season in 2013, batting .251 with career highs in hits (116), doubles (32), home runs (21), and RBIs (68).
In January, 2014, Schierholtz signed another one-year contract with the Cubs, this one valued at $5 million. He was designated for assignment by the Cubs on August 6, 2014. He signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals on August 18, 2014. He finished the 2014 season with 69 hits and a .195 batting average in 99 games with the Cubs and 23 games with the Nationals.
Schierholtz signed with the Texas Rangers on February 6, 2015. He was released on March 28th. He played in Japan in 2015.
Schierholtz signed with the Tigers on December 16, 2015. He was released on May 23, 2016. He played only in the minor leagues in 2016. He received an 80-game suspension in August, 2016, for the use of PEDs.
Schierholtz hasn't played professional baseball since 2016.
