Ryan Goins, second baseman for the Kansas City Royals, was first drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2009. He played in the minor leagues from 2009 through part of last season, ending his minor league career with a .273 batting average. Goins made his first appearance in the major leagues on August 22, 2013.

In 2014, Goins batted .188 with 34 hits and 42 strikeouts to 5 walks in 67 games with the Blue Jays. He played 57 games at second base and 15 games at shortstop and he made 149 assists, 29 double plays, 91 putouts, and 1 error.

Goins played in 128 games with the Blue Jays in 2015. He finished the season with 94 hits, 16 doubles, 45 RBIs, and a .250 batting average. Defensively, he played 66 games at second base, 2 games at third base, and 58 games at shortstop. In the postseason, he had 5 hits, including a double and a home run, and 4 RBIs in 36 at-bats in 11 games.

Goins elected free agency on November 2, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox on December 9th. He batted .250 with 36 hits in 52 games with the White Sox in 2019. He also played in 83 games in the minors.

Goins became a free agent on October 31, 2019. He signed a minor league contract with the Oakland Athletics on November 22nd. After the Athletics released him on July 19, 2020, he signed a minor league contract with the White Sox on Jukly 23rd. He played in just 14 games with the White Sox in 2020.

Goins elected free agency on September 28, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Atlanta Braves on February 25, 2021. He played only in the minors in 2021.

Goins became a free agent on October 17, 2022. He returned to the Royals on a minor league contract on January 30, 2023.
