Ryan Raburn, outfielder, was first drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 1991 but he opted for college instead. Two years later, he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers and he signed with them. He played in the Tigers' minor league system from 2001 through most of 2007.
Raburn joined the Tigers in 2007 for 49 games. That season, he batted .304 with 42 hits. The next year, he played in 92 games and he batted .236 with 43 hits.
Raburn had his best season in 2010 when he batted .280 in 113 games. He had career highs in hits (104), doubles (25), and RBIs (62). After the 2010 season ended, he signed a two-year extension with the Tigers. He continued to play with the Tigers through the 2012 season.
In January, 2013, Raburn signed a minor league contract with the Cleveland Indians. In 2013, he batted .272 with 66 hits, 18 doubles, 16 home runs, and 55 RBIs in 87 games with the Tigers. He signed a two-year, $4.85 million contract with the Tigers in August, 2013. He finished the 2014 season with 39 hits and a .200 batting average in 74 games.
Raburn played in 82 games with the Indians in 2015. He finished the season with 52 hits, 16 doubles, and a .301 batting average.
On November 4, 2015, Raburn became a free agent when the Indians declined his option for 2016. He signed a minor league contract with the Colorado Rockies on March 4, 2016. He finished the 2016 season with 49 hits and a .220 batting average in 113 games. Defensively, he played 5 games at first base, 47 games in left field, and 2 games in right field.
Raburn became a free agent on November 3, 2016. He signed a minor league contract with the Cincinnati Reds on February 19, 2017. After not making the Reds' roster, he signed a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox on April 8th. He was traded to the Washington Nationals on May 26th. He spent part of the 2017 season in the minors and part on the DL. He played in just 25 games with the Nationals.
Raburn elected free agency on November 2, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the Washington Nationals on November 19, 2017. He was released on March 24, 2018. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2017.
