Sean Rodriguez, infielder, was drafted out of high school in 2003 by the Los Angeles Angels. He played in the Angels' minor league system from 2003 through most of 2009, playing in 59 games with the Angels in 2008 and in just 12 games with them in 2009.

The Angels traded Rodriguez to the Tampa Bay Rays in September, 2009. In his first year with the Rays, he had a career high 86 hits, 19 doubles, and a .251 batting average in 118 games. The following season, he played in 131 games with the Rays. He finished the 2011 season with 83 hits, a career high 20 doubles, and a .223 batting average.

In 2013, Rodriguez batted .246 with 48 hits in 96 games. He finished the 2014 season with 50 hits and a .211 batting average in 96 games.

Although he has played defensively primarily as an infielder, Rodriguez has the distinction of having played every infield and outfield position since 2008.

On December 1, 2014, Rodriguez was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates. He finished the 2015 season with 55 hits and a .246 batting average in 139 games. As a first baseman, he made 15 assists, 37 double plays, 366 putouts, and 1 error in 102 games.

Rodriguez batted a career high .270 in 140 games in 2016. He finished the season with 81 hits, 16 doubles, and career highs in home runs (18) and RBIs (56). Defensively, he played at all four infield positions and all three outfield positions.

Rodriguez signed a two-year contract with the Atlanta Braves on November 29, 2016. He returned to the Pirates in a trade on August 5, 2017. He finished the 2017 season with a .167 batting average in 15 games with the Braves and 39 games with the Pirates.

The Pirates released Rodriguez on September 1, 2018. He spent most of the 2018 season on the DL, playing in just 66 games with the Pirates. He had 25 hits and a .167 batting average. Defensively, he played all infield and outfield positions.

Rodriguez signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies on February 8, 2019. He spent time on the DL in 2019 with an abdominal strain. He finished the season with 25 hits and a .223 batting average in 76 games. Defensively, he played all infield and outfield positions and he pitched in two games.

Rodriguez became a free agent on October 31, 2019. He signed a minor league contract with the Marlins on February 15, 2020. He played in just four games in 2020. He spent part of the shortened season on the IL.

Rodriguez elected free agency on October 28, 2020. He didn’t play professional baseball in 2021.
