Seth Smith, outfielder, was first drafted by the Colorado Rockies in 2004. He played in the Rockies' minor league system from 2004 through most of 2008. He played in 7 games with the Rockies in 2007 and in 67 games with them in 2008.

In 2009, his first full season in the major leagues, Smith batted a career high .293 with 98 hits, 20 doubles, and 15 home runs. The next season, he batted .246 in 133 games. His best season was in 2011, when he batted .284 with career highs in hits (135), doubles (32), and RBIs (59).

The Rockies traded Smith to the Oakland Athletics in January, 2012. In 2013, he batted .253 with 93 hits and 27 doubles in 117 games.

The Athletics traded Smith to the San Diego Padres in December, 2013. He finished the 2014 season with 118 hits, 31 doubles, 48 RBIs, and a .266 batting average in 136 games.

Smith was traded to the Seattle Mariners on December 30, 2014. He finished the 2015 season with 98 hits, 31 doubles, 42 RBIs, and a .248 batting average in 136 games. Defensively, he played 65 games in left field and 55 games in right field and he made 163 putouts and 1 error.

In 2016, Smith batted .249 in 137 games with the Mariners. He had 94 hits, 15 doubles, 16 home runs, and a career high 63 RBIs. Defensively, he played 35 games in left field and 74 games in right field and he made 155 putouts and 1 error.

The Mariners exercised their club option for Smith for 2017 on November 3, 2016. He was traded to the Baltimore Orioles on January 6, 2017. He finished the 2017 season with 85 hits, 19 doubles, 13 home runs, 32 RBIs, 79 strikeouts to 36 walks, and a .258 batting average in 111 games with the Orioles. Defensively, he played 12 games in left field and 80 games in right field.

Smith elected free agency on November 2, 2017. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2017.
