Skip Schumaker, right fielder, was first drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in 2001. He played in the Cardinals' minor league system from 2001 through most of 2006, joining the Cardinals for 27 games in 2005 and 28 games in 2006. He played in 88 games with the Cardinals in 2007 and he finished the season with an impressive .333 batting average.

In 2008, his first full season in the major leagues, Schumaker batted .302 with a career high 163 hits and 22 doubles in 153 games. He had another strong season the next year, finishing the 2009 season with 161 hits, a career high 34 doubles, and a .303 batting average.

Schumaker signed a two-year, $4.7 million contract with the Cardinals in February, 2010. His 2010 season was not nearly as good as the two previous ones. He finished that year with a .265 batting average in 137 games.

The Cardinals traded Schumaker to the Los Angeles Dodgers in December, 2012. In 2013, he batted .263 with 84 hits and 16 doubles in 125 games.

In November, 2013, Schumaker signed a two-year, $5 million contract with the Cincinnati Reds. He finished the 2014 season with 58 hits and a .235 batting average in 83 games.

Schumaker batted .242 with 59 hits and 20 doubles in 131 games in 2015. Defensively, he played 12 games at second base, 40 games in left field, 2 games in center field, and 4 games in right field.

Schumaker signed with the San Diego Padres on February 8, 2016. He was released on March 16, 2016. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2015.
