Yovani Gallardo, starting pitcher for the Seattle Mariners, was drafted by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2004. He played in their minor league system from 2004 to 2007, when he was called up to pitch in 20 games with the Brewers. In 2007, he had a 9-5 record and a 3.67 ERA. The following season, he was on the DL and he pitched in just four games with the Brewers.

In April, 2010, Gallardo signed a five-year, $30.1 million contract extension with the Brewers. That season, he won a Silver Slugger award for batting .254 with 16 hits, 4 doubles, 4 home runs, and 10 RBIs in 63 at-bats.
