Zach McAllister, relief pitcher for the Arizona Diamondbacks, was first drafted by the New York Yankees in 2006. After four and a half years in the Yankees' minor league system, he was traded to the Cleveland Indians in August, 2010. He continued in the minors through most of 2011, joining the Indians for four games that season.

McAllister pitched 125.1 innings in 22 games in 2012. He finished the season with a 6-8 record and a 4.24 ERA. He had a stronger season in 2013, finishing with a 9-9 record and a 3.75 ERA in 24 games.

On August 1, 2014, McAllister was designated for assignment. He finished the 2014 season with a 4-7 record, 74 strikeouts to 28 walks, and a 5.23 ERA in 86.0 innings in 22 games.

McAllister pitched out of the Indians' bullpen in 2015. He finished the season with a 4-4 record, 1 save, 84 strikeouts to 23 walks, and a 3.00 ERA in 69.0 innings in 61 games.

McAllister signed a new one-year, $1.3 million contract with the Indians on January 8, 2016. He finished the 2016 season with a 3.44 ERA, 3 wins to 2 losses, and 54 strikeouts to 23 walks in 2 games as a starter and 51 games in relief. In the postseason, he pitched 3.0 innings in 3 games and he gave up 4 hits and 3 runs.

McAllister finished the 2017 season with 2 wins and 2 losses, 66 strikeouts to 21 walks, and a 2.61 ERA in 62.0 innings in 50 games. He didn't pitch in the postseason.

The Indians released McAllister on August 7, 2018. He signed with the Detroit Tigers on August 10th. After being assigned to the minor leagues, he opted for free agency on August 22nd. He signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on August 27th. He finished the 2018 season with 1 win and 2 losses, 39 strikeouts to 10 walks, and a 6.20 ERA in 41 games with the Indians and 3 games with the Tigers. He didn't play with the Dodgers.

McAllister became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He signed with the Texas Rangers on January 22, 2019. He was released on March 25th. He rejoined the Dodgers on a minor league contract on April 4, 2019. He spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons on the IL.

McAllister elected free agency on November 2, 2020. He signed a minor league contract with the Philadelphia Phillies on August 10, 2021. He played only in the minors in 2021. He was released on September 22nd.

McAllister signed a minor league contract with the St. Louis Cardinals on March 15, 2022.

McAllister became a free agent on November 10, 2022. He signed a minor league contract with the Diamondbacks on December 9th.
