A.J. Ramos, relief pitcher, was drafted by the Miami Marlins in June, 2009. He played in their minor league system from 2009 through most of 2012. As a minor leaguer, he pitched 211.1 innings in 178 games and he had a 9-16 record, 83 saves, and 288 strikeouts to 86 walks.

Ramos first joined the Marlins for 11 games in 2012. The following season, he pitched 80.0 innings out of the Marlins' bullpen. In 68 games in 2012, he had a 3-4 record and a 3.15 ERA. He had better numbers in 2014, finishing the season with a 7-0 record and a 2.11 ERA in 64.0 innings in 68 games.

Ramos was the Marlin's closer in 2015. He finished the season with 32 saves, 87 strikeouts to 26 walks, and a 2.30 ERA in 70.1 innings in 71 games.

In 2016, Ramos had a 2.81 ERA in 67 games. He finished the season with 1 win to 4 losses, 40 saves, and 73 strikeouts to 35 walks in 64.0 innings.

The Marlins traded Ramos to the New York Mets on July 28, 2017. He finished the 2017 season with a 3.99 ERA in 40 games with the Marlins and 21 games with the Mets. He had 2 wins and 4 losses, 27 saves, and 72 strikeouts to 34 walks in 58.2 innings.

Ramos had season ending shoulder surgery on June 20, 2018. In 28 games with the Mets, he had a 6.41 ERA in 19.2 innings.

Ramos became a free agent on October 29, 2018. He didn't play professional baseball in 2019.

Ramos signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 7, 2020. He was released by the Dodgers on August 28th. He signed with the Chicago Cubs on August 30th but he didn't stay long with them - they released hin on September 3rd. He signed with the Colorado Rockies on September 5th, and he pitched 2.2 innings in 3 games with them.

Ramos became a free agent on October 28, 2020. He signed with the Los Angeles Angels on March 26, 2021. He spent most of the 2021 season in the minors, pitching just 4.2 innings in 4 games with the Angels.

Ramos became a free agent again on November 3, 2021. He signed a minor league contract with the Angels on March 16, 2022, and he was released less than a month later, on April 5th.
