Andrew Heaney, starting pitcher for the Texas Rangers, was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2009 but he opted instead to go to college. When the Miami Marlins drafted him in 2012, he signed with them. He pitched in the Marlins' minor league system from 2012 through 2014. During that time, he had a 19-11 record with 262 strikeouts to 68 walks in 259.2 innings in 49 games.

Heaney joined the Marlins for seven games in 2014. In those games, he had a 0-3 record and a 5.83 ERA. On December 10, 2014, the Marlins traded him to the Los Angeles Dodgers. He stayed with the Dodgers for just a few hours before they traded him to the Los Angeles Angels for Howie Kendrick.

Heaney pitched in 18 games with the Angels in 2015. He pitched 105.2 inings and he finished with a 6-4 record, 78 strikeouts to 28 walks, and a 3.49 ERA.

Heaney played in just one game with the Angels in 2016. He started the season on the DL with an elbow problem that eventually led to Tommy John surgery. He spent most of the 2017 season on the DL, pitching just 21.2 innings in 5 games with the Angels.

Heaney had a full season in 2018, pitching 180.0 innings in 30 games. He had 9 wins and 10 losses and a 4.15 ERA. He struck out 180 batters and walked 45.
