Anthony DeSclafani, starting pitcher for the San Francisco Giants, was first drafted in 2008 by the Boston Red Sox but he opted instead for college. Three years later, he was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays. After just one season in the Blue Jays' minor league system, he was traded to the Miami Marlins in November, 2012.

DeSclafani pitched in the minor leagues from 2012 through part of 2014. During that time, he had a 3.23 ERA, a 26-16 record, and 304 strikeouts to 79 walks in 354.1 innings in 73 games.

DeSclafani joined the Marlins for 13 games in 2014. He pitched 33.0 innings and he had a 2-2 record and a 6.27 ERA. On December 11, 2014, he was traded to the Cincinnati Reds.

DeSclafani pitched in 31 games with the Reds in 2015. He finished the season with a 9-13 record, 151 strikeouts to 55 walks, and a 4.05 ERA in 184.2 innings.

In 2016, DeSclafani finished with a 3.28 ERA in 20 games with the Reds. He had 9 wins to 5 losses and 105 strikeouts to 30 walks in 123.1 innings.

DeSclafani spent the 2017 season on the DL. He spent time on the DL again in 2018 with a left oblique strain. In 115.0 innnings in 21 games, he had 7 wins and 8 losses, 108 strikeouts to 30 walks, and a 4.93 ERA.

DeSclafani finished the 2019 season with a 9-9 record, 167 strikeouts to 49 walks, and a 3.89 ERA in 166.2 innings in 31 games.

DeSclafani pitched in nine games in 2020. He finished the season with 1 win and 2 losses, 25 strikeouts to 16 walks, and a 7.22 ERA in 33.2 innings.

DeSclafani became a free agent on October 28, 2020. He signed with the Giants on December 16, 2020. He finished the 2021 season with 13 wins and 7 losses, 152 strikeouts to 42 walks, and a 3.17 ERA in 167.2 innings in 31 games. In the postseason, he gave up 5 hits and 2 runs in 1.2 innings in 1 game.

DeSclafani became a free agent on November 3, 2021. He rejoined the Giants on a new contract on November 22nd.
