Billy Burns, outfielder, was first drafted by the Washington Nationals in 2011. After three seasons in the Nationals' minor league system, he was traded to the Oakland Athletics in December, 2013. He then continued to play in the minors, joining the Athletics for 13 games in 2014.

As a minor leaguer from 2011 through 2015, Burns had a .288 batting average with 436 hits, 127 RBIs, 184 stolen bases, and 245 strikeouts to 211 walks in 407 games. Defensively, he played 265 games in center field and 133 games in left field.

Burns played in 125 games with the Athletics in 2015. On May 24th, he hit his first major league home run. He finished the season with a .294 batting average, 153 hits, 18 doubles, 26 stolen bases, and 42 RBIs. As a center fielder in 125 games, he made 280 putouts and 3 errors and he had a .989 fielding percentage.

Burns was traded to the Kansas City Royals on July 30, 2016. He finished the 2016 season with 73 hits, 17 stolen bases, and a .235 batting average in 73 games with the Athletics and 24 games with the Royals. Defensively, as a center fielder in 80 games, he made 153 putouts and 2 errors.

Burns spent most of the 2017 season in the minors, playing in just 7 games with the Royals. He spent the entire 2018 season in the minors.

Burns became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He signed a minor league contract with the New York Yankees on January 3, 2019. He spent the 2019 season in the minors.

Burns became a free agent on November 4, 2019. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2019.
