Brett Oberholtzer, relief pitcher, was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2008. After playing in the Braves' minor league system for three and a half years, they traded him to the Houston Astros in July, 2011. He continued to play in the minors through part of 2013 and 2014.

As a minor leaguer, Oberholtzer pitched 673.0 innings in 124 games from 2009 through 2014. He had a 3.86 ERA, a 44-41 record, and 575 strikeouts to 159 walks.

Oberholtzer joined the Astros for 13 games in 2013. He had a 4-5 record and a 2.76 ERA in 71.2 innings. In 2014, he pitched twice as much, pitching 143.2 innings in 24 games. He finished the season with a 5-13 record and a 4.39 ERA.

On June 27, 2015, Oberholtzer intentionally pitched inside to Alex Rodriguez. That action caused him to be immediately ejected from the game and sent down to the minors for the rest of the season. Prior to his ejection, he had a 2-2 record, 27 strikeouts to 17 walks, and a 4.46 ERA in 38.1 innings in 8 games with the Astros.

Oberholtzer was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies on December 12, 2015. He was designated for assignment by the Phillies on August 6, 2016. The Angels claimed him off waivers three days later.

In 2016, Oberholtzer had a 5.89 ERA in 26 games with the Phillies and 11 games with the Angels. He finished the season with 3 wins and 3 losses, 1 save, and 54 strikeouts to 29 walks in 70.1 innings.

Oberholtzer became a free agent on November 7, 2016. He signed a minor league contract with the Toronto Blue Jays on December 7, 2016. He was designated for assignment on August 1, 2017, after pitchig in 24 games in the minors.

Oberholtzer elected free agency on October 13, 2017. He signed a minor league contract with the Colorado Rockies on April 28, 2018. He spent the 2018 season in the minors.

Oberholtzer became a free agent on November 2, 2018. He played in the independent Atlantic League in 2019. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2019.
