Brett Wallace, infielder for the San Diego Padres, was a top player at Arizona State University. He won the Triple Crown twice and in both 2007 and 2008, he was named the Pac-10 Player of the Year. He was first drafted in 2005 by the Toronto Blue Jays but he opted instead to continue playing for ASU.

In 2008, Wallace was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals. After a year and a half in the Cardinals' minor league system, he was traded to the Oakland Athletics on July 24, 2009. He didn't stay long with Oakland, getting traded to the Blue Jays in December, 2009. After just half a year in the Blue Jays' minor league system, he was traded on July 29, 2010, to the Houston Astros.

Wallace finally had a chance to play in the major leagues in 2010, when he joined the Astros for 51 games. The following year, he played in a career high 115 games with the Astros. He finished the 2011 season with a .259 batting average, 87 hits, and 22 doubles. In 2012, he was again back in the minor leagues for more than half of the season, playing in 66 games with the Astros and 86 games in the minors.

Wallace split his time in 2013 again between the Astros and the minor leagues. In 79 games with the Astros, he batted .221 with 58 hits, 14 doubles, and a career high 13 home runs. The following March, he was released by the Astros.

On March 23, 2014, Wallace signed with his fifth team, the Baltimore Orioles. He stayed with them only until July 14th, when he was acquired again by the Blue Jays. He spent all of the 2014 season in the minor leagues.

Wallace signed with the Padres on December 15, 2014. He split his time in 2015 between the minor leagues (61 games) and the Padres (64 games). In his time with the Padres, he batted .302 with 29 hits.

In 2016, Wallace batted .189 in 119 games with the Padres. Defensively, he played 20 games at first base and 42 games at third base.

Wallace became a free agent on November 18, 2016. He signed a new minor league contract with the Padres on December 19, 2016. He hasn't played professional baseball since 2016.
