Chi Chi Gonzalez, starting pitcher for the Miami Marlins, was first drafted in 2010 by the Baltimore Orioles but he opted instead for college. Three years later, he was drafted by the Texas Rangers. He pitched in the Rangers' minor league system in 2013 and 2014. During that time, he had a 12-10 record and 148 strikeouts to 57 walks in 180.2 innings in 40 games.

Gonzalez pitched his first complete shutout game on June 5, 2015. He finished the 2015 season with a 4-6 record, 30 strikeouts to 32 walks, and a 3.90 ERA in 67.0 innings in 14 games with the Rangers. In the postseason, he pitched 1.2 innings and he gave up 2 hits, including a home run.

Gonzalez spent most of the 2016 season in the minor leagues, pitching just 10.1 innings in 3 games with the Rangers.

Gonzalez spent most of the 2017 season on the DL. He had an 8.71 ERA in 10.1 innings in 3 games with the Rangers.

Gonzalez became a free agent on December 1, 2017. He signed a new minor league contract with the Rangers on December 4, 2017. He spent the 2018 season in the minors.
