Chris Bassitt, starting pitcher for the Toronto Blue Jays, was first drafted by the Chicago White Sox in 2011. He pitched in the minor leagues from 2011 through most of 2014. During that time, he had a 22-10 record and 303 strikeouts to 138 walks in 317.2 innings in 96 games.

Bassitt joined the White Sox for six games in 2014. He had a 1-1 record and a 3.94 ERA in 29.2 innings.

The White Sox traded Bassitt to the Oakland Athletics on December 9, 2014. He pitched in 18 games with the Athletics in 2015, finishing the season with a 1-8 record, 64 strikeouts to 30 walks, and a 3.56 ERA in 86.0 innings.

Bassitt had Tommy John surgery in May, 2016. He pitched 28.0 innings in 5 games with the Athletics prior to his surgery.

Bassitt spent the entire 2017 season in the minor leagues. In 2018, he split his time between the minors and the Athletics. In 11 games with Oakland, he had 2 wins and 3 losses, 41 strikeouts to 19 walks, and a 3.02 ERA in 47.2 innings.

Bassitt spent time on the DL in 2019 with a leg contusion. He finished the season with 10 wins and 5 losses, 141 strikeouts to 47 walks, and a 3.81 ERA in 144.0 innings in 28 games. He didn't play in the postseason.

Bassitt pitched in 11 games in 2020. He finished the season with 5 wins and 2 losses, 55 strikeouts to 17 walks, and a 2.29 ERA in 63.0 innings. In the postseason, he had a 3.27 ERA in 11.0 innings in 2 games. He gave up 15 hits and 4 runs.

Bassitt spent time on the IL in 2021 with a facial fracture. He finished the season with 12 wins and 4 losses, 159 strikeouts to 39 walks, and a 3.15 ERA in 157.1 innings in 27 games.

Bassitt was traded to the New York Mets on March 12, 2022.

Bassitt became a free agent on November 7, 2022. He signed with the Blue Jays on December 16th.
