Cody Allen, relief pitcher, was drafted by the Cleveland Indians in 2011. He pitched in 23 games in the minors in 2011 and in 31 games in 2012. He also pitched with the Indians in 2012, pitching 29.0 innings in 27 games.

Allen joined the Indians' bullpen full time in 2013, pitching 70.1 innings in 77 games. He had a 2.43 ERA and 2 saves that season. He became the Indians' closer in May, 2014, and he had a strong first season as the closer. He finished the 2014 season with a 2.07 ERA, 24 saves, and 91 strikeouts to 26 walks in 69.2 innings in 76 games.

As the Indians' closer in 2015, Allen had 34 saves in 70 games. He finished the season with 99 strikeouts to 25 walks and a 2.99 ERA in 69.1 innings.

Allen had a 2.51 ERA in 67 games in 2016. He finished the season with 3 wins to 5 losses, 32 saves, and 87 strikeouts to 27 walks in 68.0 innings. In the postseason, he pitched 13.2 innings in 10 games and he gave up 8 hits and no runs. He struck out 24 batters and walked 5.

Allen finished the 2017 season with 3 wins and 7 losses, 30 saves, 92 strikeouts to 21 walks, and a 2.94 ERA in 67.1 innings in 69 games. In the postseason, he pitched 5.1 innings in 4 games and he gave up 5 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 8 batters and walked 3.

Allen pitched in 70 games in 2018, and he had a 4.70 ERA. He had 4 wins and 6 losses, 27 saves, and 80 strikeouts to 33 walks in 67.0 innings. In the postseason, he pitched 1.0 innings in 2 games and he gave up 4 hits, including 2 home runs, and 6 runs. He struck out two batters and walked two.

Allen became a free agent on October 29, 2018. He signed with the Los Angeles Angels on January 20, 2019. He was released on June 18, 2019. He signed a minor league contract with the Minnesota Twins on June 24th, and he was released on July 31st. He finished the season with no wins and 2 losses, 4 saves, 29 strikeouts to 20 walks, and a 6.26 ERA in 23.0 innings in 25 games with the Angels. He only played in the minors with the Twins.

Allen signed a minor league contract with the Texas Rangers on February 7, 2020. The Rangers released him on July 24, 2020, and a week later, on July 31st, he signed a minor league contract with the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs released him on September 3rd. He didn't play with either team in 2020.

Allen didn’t play professional baseball in 2021.
