Dellin Betances, retired relief pitcher, was drafted by the New York Yankees in 2006. He pitched in the Yankees' minor league system from 2006 through 2013, joining the Yankees for two games in 2011 and six games in 2013. As a minor league pitcher, he had a 3.99 ERA, 36-36 record, and 723 strikeouts to 346 walks in 156 games.

Betances had an outstanding first full season in the major leagues in 2014. He led major league baseball in strikeouts for a relief pitcher with 135. He also set a surprising record for the Yankees - he surpassed the great Mariano Rivera by having the most single season strikeouts by a relief pitcher. He finished the 2014 season with a 1.40 ERA, 5-0 record, and 135 strikeouts to 24 walks in 90.0 innings in 70 games.

Betances had another strong season in 2015. In 74 games with the Yankees, he had a 6-4 record, 9 saves, 131 strikeouts to 40 walks, and a 1.50 ERA in 84.0 innings. He pitched 1.2 innings in the postseason Wild Card game and he gave up one hit and one earned run.

In 2016, Betances had a 3.08 ERA in 73 games. He finished the season with 3 wins and 6 losses, 12 saves, and 126 strikeouts to 28 walks in 73.0 innings.

Betances finished the 2017 season with a 2.87 ERA in 66 games. He had 3 wins and 6 losses, 10 saves, and 100 strikeouts to 44 walks in 59.2 innings. In the postseason, he pitched 4.0 innings in 5 games and he gave up 2 hits and 2 runs. He struck out 6 batters and walked 5.

Betances pitched in 66 games in 2018. He finished the season with 4 wins and 6 losses, 4 saves, 115 strikeouts to 26 walks, and a 2.70 ERA in 66.2 innings. Betances became a free agent on October 31, 2019. He signed with the New York Mets on December 24th. He pitched in 15 games in 2020, and he finished the season with no wins and 1 loss, 11 strikeouts to 12 walks, and a 7.71 ERA in 11.2 innings.

Betances spent almost all of the 2021 season on the IL with right shoulder impingement. He pitched just 1.0 innings in 1 game with the Mets.

Betances became a free agent on November 3, 2021. He signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on April 7, 2022. He was released on August 17th, and he retired on the same day.
